City of Atlanta's redesign of Monroe Dr NE, mapped

A "road diet" converting Monroe Dr from a 4-lane undivided road to a 3-lane section (one lane each way + a center turn lane / median), plus new pedestrian crossings, beacons, a roundabout, and intersection safety rebuilds. Every marker is drawn from the April 14, 2026 project Q&A. Construction begins Summer 2026 (24–30 months).

Target speed limit 25 mph (from 30); ~30% fewer crashes expected
Tree removal + replacement; right-of-way acquisition at Virginia Ave, Park Dr & Montgomery Ferry

Phasing & timeline

Phase II — 8th St → Park Dr (incl. the new roundabout) + Montgomery Ferry. ~12–18 months.

Phase I — just north of Park Dr → Armour Dr. ~12 months.

Construction starts Summer 2026 · 24–30 months total.
